About Michael

I am a professional community music educator and trombonist predominately but have a love and passion for language. I graduated from UMass Lowell summa cum laude and studied literature and writing while in school in addition to my coursework for music education and performance. I believe that life is a learning adventure and forever: together we can work through problems and challenge each other to become better people while mastering our goals.

About the lesson

My teaching method is different for each student. It's great to work one on one or with a small group because my attention is 110% focused on the student's needs. I generally start by working through whatever difficulties a student is having that they've expressed in a message or phone conversation. Over time we'll get to know each other better and I pride myself on really getting to know ya'll as people and hope to inspire a passion for learning and language that far too often gets squished with standardized tests. There are so many different ways to teach and each district's set of curriculum and standards is attainable for everyone: they might just need to be taught with a different methodology than what their school offers and together we'll figure out how to improve.

I'd love to teach as many students as possible, especially since many band programs are not going to be offered this year with the pandemic. Let me know whatever you can pay and we can definitely make it work- it's more important than ever to make music and have some fun together during these once in a lifetime events that have effected everyone.
