Preparing for the SAT can feel overwhelming—but you won’t be doing it alone. My lessons are structured, personalized, and designed to build confidence as well as high scores.

BEFORE WE BEGIN

Before the first lesson, I ask for a recent SAT practice test—or I’ll assign one. Your first lesson is free, and during it, I carefully analyze your results to identify:

Conceptual gaps

Careless mistakes

Weak domains, subtopics, and difficulty levels
(using the same classification system as the College Board)

From there, I build a custom learning plan based on your goal score, weekly study time, test dates, and availability. I also send weekly progress emails so parents and students can track improvement clearly.

WHAT LESSONS LOOK LIKE

Every student learns differently, and I adapt our sessions to match your pace and learning style.

Homework is optional—assigned only to students who want it.

I help students improve both accuracy and speed, especially in identifying question types quickly.

Concepts are taught step-by-step, with plenty of guided practice.

Sessions can be recorded and uploaded privately for review at any time (optional).

Whether you’re brand new to the SAT or aiming for a top percentile score, you’ll get a lesson designed for you.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I meet students where they are—academically and emotionally.

The SAT can be stressful, so I focus on clarity, encouragement, and building confidence. My approach balances:

- Strong academic instruction

- Test-taking strategy

- Stress management and mindset coaching

You’ll practice using official College Board questions and high-quality custom materials to master:

- Digital SAT format & Desmos tools

- Most-tested math and grammar rules

- Reading skills for quick, accurate comprehension

- Speed and timing strategies

- Trap-avoidance techniques

- Score-boosting strategies tailored to you

  • 1. When did you develop an interest in your chosen field and in private tutoring?

My interest in education developed through my own academic experience. I have always enjoyed understanding how things work, and I noticed that when a difficult concept was explained in a simple and patient way, it became much easier to understand.
Over time, I developed a particular interest in helping students prepare for standardized tests such as the SAT, GED, ACT, ASVAB, and TEAS. I enjoy working with students individually because it allows me to understand their strengths and weaknesses and adjust my teaching to their needs.
What I enjoy most is seeing a student go from saying, “I don’t understand this,” to eventually solving the same type of question confidently.
  • 2. Tell us more about the subject you teach, the topics you like to discuss with students (and possibly those you like a little less).

I mainly focus on test preparation, particularly the SAT, GED, ACT, ASVAB, and TEAS. I teach areas such as mathematics, reading comprehension, grammar, vocabulary, data interpretation, and problem-solving.

I particularly enjoy mathematics because I like breaking down complicated problems into smaller, more manageable steps. I also enjoy reading and language-related topics because they help students improve their ability to understand questions and communicate effectively.

I wouldn’t say there are topics I dislike teaching. Some topics are simply more challenging, especially when a student has gaps in their foundation. In those situations, I usually go back to the basics and build from there.
  • 3. Did you have any role models; a teacher that inspired you?

Yes. During my academic journey, I had teachers who influenced the way I look at teaching. What stood out to me was not only their knowledge but their patience and willingness to explain something in different ways until their students understood it.

That taught me that being a good teacher isn’t about showing students how much you know. It’s about making sure they actually understand what you’re teaching.

That idea has stayed with me and is something I try to apply with my students today.
  • 4. What do you think are the qualities required to be a good tutor?

For me, a good tutor needs to be patient, understanding, adaptable, and a good communicator.

Every student is different. Some students understand a concept quickly, while others need more examples or a different explanation. A tutor therefore needs to be willing to adjust rather than simply use the same approach with everyone.

I also think students should feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes. My goal is not just to help a student get a better score but to help them understand what they are doing and become more confident and independent.
  • 5. Provide a valuable anecdote related to your subject or your days at school.

One thing I remember from my own academic experience is realizing that a difficult topic can become surprisingly simple when someone takes the time to explain the reasoning behind it.

That experience influenced how I teach today. I don’t like asking students to simply memorize formulas or methods without understanding why they work.

When I teach, I often ask students to think about the reasoning behind a solution. Once they understand the “why,” they are usually much better prepared to deal with a different question that tests the same concept.
  • 6. What were the difficulties or challenges you faced or still face in your subject?

One of the biggest challenges I face in test preparation is that students can be at very different levels, even when they are preparing for the same exam.

For example, one student may understand the concepts but struggle with time management, while another may need to work on the fundamentals first. Motivation can also be a challenge when students don’t see immediate improvement.

I usually deal with this by first identifying where the student is struggling, then setting realistic goals and working on those areas step by step. I also try to remind students that improvement takes time and that consistency is more important than expecting overnight results.
  • 7. Do you have a particular passion? Is it teaching in general or an element of the subject or something completely different?

My biggest passion is helping people understand things that initially seem difficult.

That’s probably one of the main reasons I enjoy tutoring. I like problem-solving, communicating with people, and seeing someone make progress because of the help I provided.

One of my favorite moments during a lesson is when a student suddenly says, “Oh, I understand now!” It may seem like a small moment, but for me, that’s one of the most rewarding parts of teaching.

I’m also passionate about learning and personal development. I believe that as a tutor, you should never stop learning yourself.
  • 8. What makes you a Superprof (besides answering this interview question :-P)?

I think what makes me a Superprof is the way I approach each student individually. I don’t believe tutoring should be the same for everyone.

Before deciding how to teach, I try to understand where the student is, what they are struggling with, and what they want to achieve. From there, I can adapt my lessons and give them the kind of support they actually need.

I also place a lot of importance on communication, preparation, and feedback. I want my students to know what they are doing well, what they need to improve, and how we are going to work on it.

For me, being a Superprof is not just about teaching a subject. It’s about helping students become more confident, develop better learning habits, and eventually feel capable of handling things on their own. Seeing that growth in my students is what keeps me motivated.Attached is a photo of one of my sessions.
