About Elena
I am a Russian-trained concert pianist and teacher with 23 years of teaching experience and more than two decades of professional performing experience.
I graduated with honours from the Academic Music College at the Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory and from the Gnessin Russian Academy of Music. I also completed postgraduate studies at the Gnessin Academy and later taught there for several years.
As a soloist and chamber musician, I have performed in concerts, festivals and international tours across Europe, Asia, South America and the CIS. My professional work has also included masterclasses, competitions and jury work.
I am a First Prize winner of the Salieri-Zinetti International Chamber Music Competition in Verona and the Max Reger International Chamber Music Competition in Karlsruhe. I have also recorded two chamber music CDs for the Russian classical label Melodiya.
My teaching is rooted in the Russian classical tradition, in which technique, listening, musical thought and artistic expression are developed together. I translate this professional training into clear and practical work appropriate to each student’s level.
I work with adult beginners, returning pianists, advanced amateurs, motivated teenagers, and students preparing for ABRSM, Trinity, music-school examinations, auditions or performances. My international teaching experience allows me to work effectively with students from different cultural and educational backgrounds.
My aim is not simply to increase the amount of repertoire a student can play. Each new piece should become both an artistically convincing result and a step towards stronger reading, more secure rhythm and technique, a more refined ear, clearer musical understanding and increasingly independent work.

A student can learn one piece after another and still remain dependent on the teacher. The repertoire grows, while note reading, rhythm, technique, listening, memory and the ability to practise independently may remain underdeveloped.
My lessons are designed so that the piece and the pianist develop together.
Many adults and teenagers have previously been taught mainly through repertoire or exam programmes. Underneath the prepared pieces, familiar gaps often remain: slow or insecure reading, unstable rhythm, poorly organised technique, weak coordination, limited understanding of the score, and no reliable method for practising between lessons.
Reading, rhythm, coordination, technique, listening, memory, harmony, form, phrasing and expression are therefore developed as parts of one musical system, through the music the student is learning.
Before repeating something at the instrument, we first learn to read, hear and organise the material. We identify patterns, rhythm, texture, harmony, formal structure, the direction of the phrase, and the sound and character we want to create. The hands then work in response to a clear musical idea rather than repeating movements without direction.
This does not replace practical playing or artistic work. It makes both more purposeful. Technique serves sound and freedom; understanding of the score serves expression; and every completed piece should leave the student better equipped to approach the next one.
For beginners, this means developing secure reading, rhythm, coordination, listening and healthy technical habits from the start. Returning and continuing pianists rebuild missing foundations and learn to organise their practice more effectively. Advanced students refine sound, technique, structure, interpretation, memory and performance reliability.
I prepare students for ABRSM and Trinity examinations, as well as music-school assessments, auditions, performances and demanding classical repertoire. Exam preparation includes the musical and technical foundation required for the level, not only the polishing of a fixed programme.
The free introductory lesson offered by Superprof is used to discuss your goals, previous experience, lesson format and whether this approach is the right fit. The first full working lesson includes an assessment of your current foundation, repertoire and practice habits. Afterwards, you receive a concise written summary of the main priorities and direction of study.
Regular lessons are intended for students who value consistent weekly work and long-term musical development rather than occasional correction of isolated pieces.
A small number of regular weekly places are available for the 2026–27 academic year.

Before working with Elena, I relied too much on repetition and too little on understanding. She helped me see structure more clearly, recognise patterns faster, and memorise in a much more intelligent way. That has made learning repertoire less chaotic and much more secure. I also feel that I now hear phrasing and harmonic movement more consciously than before.
What I appreciate most is the level of seriousness and refinement Elena brings to the lesson. She listens with unusual care and does not remain on the surface of the music. Her teaching is best suited, in my view, to students who want real development, clear guidance, and a more mature relationship with the instrument.
I have a demanding work schedule, so I needed lessons that were focused, efficient, and genuinely worthwhile. Elena works in a very concentrated way. She identifies the real source of a problem quickly and gives practice guidance that is clear enough to use independently during the week. What changed most for me was not only the quality of my playing, but the quality of my practice. I waste much less time now.
My daughter is a teenager, so I was concerned that piano lessons would feel like another formal obligation. Elena handled this beautifully. There is real structure and high expectation in her lessons, but also sensitivity and intelligence. My daughter gradually became much more engaged and started using music as a way to express herself, not just to complete assignments.
For a long time I played “correctly”. Everything was in place, but nothing really moved me.
At some point during these lessons, something shifted — very quietly.
It wasn’t dramatic. Just a phrase that suddenly felt alive.
And once you feel that, you can’t go back. There’s a point where you realise you’re no longer repeating mistakes by habit.
You actually catch them earlier.
That changed my practice more than anything else.I needed structure, not motivation.
This is exactly that.I had always felt that my playing was “correct”, but somehow empty.
We spent nearly twenty minutes on a single phrase in one lesson. At first I was surprised — then something shifted.
It’s difficult to explain, but music started to feel less like execution and more like intention.View more recommendations
