About Amanda
I am a Registered Nurse and currently working as an Adjunct Faculty member for a local community college. I earned my BSN from Valparaiso University in 2011, and I will be attending online courses this coming Fall of 2019 to earn my MSN in Education. I worked in a local hospital on a Medical-Surgical floor for seven years. There I obtained a wealth of health and medical knowledge that I am now able to pass on to my students. I discovered my passion for teaching when precepting both student nurses as well as new employees. I left the hospital to follow my dream career as an educator. Classes I have taught include Medical Law and Ethics, Medical Terminology, Nutrition, Health and Wellness, Student Success in Healthcare, and Anatomy and Physiology. My class sizes range anywhere from six to twenty students.

As an Adjunct Professor, I educate a diverse class of students. The age range of the student population is anywhere from 18 to 60 plus years old. Some of the students I teach are pursuing their first degree, yet others may be attempting to return to school after twenty years for a total change in career. The methods I use for each class includes lectures and PowerPoints. My Anatomy and Physiology does have a lab included. I use a friendly approach. If there is a concept that my students do not understand, I reach out to them to encourage them to ask questions. I send frequent reminders to my student regarding their upcoming schedule of events and due dates.
