About Christene

Ever wondered why some musicians seem to connect effortlessly with their instrument while others struggle? Music entered my life as a language before I understood the formal mechanics of the Curtis Institute of Music. I teach students at every level, from absolute beginners to advanced competitors.

My approach prioritizes the voice over the syllabus because I would rather hear a wrong answer out loud than a silent right one. I focus on classical repertoire, rhythm, and timing along with specific techniques like shifting positions, vibrato, and left hand agility. Sometimes it is about the posture and hold or the subtle nuances of orchestral playing that simply need time to settle.

About the lesson

Focusing on the mechanics of ear training or grade exam prep often feels like a technical chore, yet it remains the most engaging part of the process. Diagnostic assessment serves as the foundation before we establish any practice plan.

I evaluate your current trajectory to ensure that every movement serves the music directly. Developing technical freedom requires a patient ear and a measured perspective on your physical engagement with the violin. Students find that moving at the pace the material demands rather than a rigid schedule creates the most lasting growth. There is a distinct clarity that emerges when you finally balance your technique against the demands of the score.
