About Alta
I am a mother of four grown-up children who grew up in a bilingual house in South Africa. My native language is Afrikaans, and my husband is the English-speaking person in our home. We emigrated to England in 1998, where we basically only spoke English apart from my daughter and me, who spoke our native language at home. She attended university in Lincoln and could follow her dreams because she could speak English fluently.
