About Katherine
Hi my name is Katherine, I'm 43 years old, mum to my eleven year old daughter, and I have 8 years experience working as teaching assistant in secondary school (11-18) I have a lot of experience working with children and adults with additional learning needs and mental health challenges. It really makes me happy to help someone begin to see their own potential and the confidence that grows within them as a result.
I think that learning is really conducive when there is fun, relaxed atmosphere, tackling difficulties with a little laughter, in my experience it helps lighten the load and helps to move through any difficulties in learning.
I think people learn best when they really get stuck into the work, and are hands on. I'm also a great believer in the importance of learning from our mistakes, they are often little gifts that signpost us to the right answer next time.

I have spent 8 years working alongside pupils to help them reach their goals. I focus on confidence building I worked mainly with children with ALN and helped them to foster self belief which in turn helped them to progress academically. The pupils I worked with mainly have been aged between 11 and 18 years.
The past 6 months I have also been tutoring Adults on an online platform learning english as a second language and employ the same methods of teaching using self evaluation as a key tool to progression and building confidence.
I create a warm and welcoming atmosphere where it is totally safe to make mistakes, because they are our greatest teachers.
I have 30 min and 1 hour sessions available.
