About Jay

With practical real-world experience in software development and teaching, I’ve worked with students of all ages and abilities, from absolute beginners to advanced learners. I’ve taught Games Technology and Computer Science at degree level and IT at College level, so I understand the challenges all learners face and how to overcome them. Whether you’re preparing for exams, improving your coding skills, or developing your own game, I’m here to help you succeed.

About the lesson

My lessons are tailored to match your learning style and goals, whether you're starting from scratch or looking to deepen your expertise. Here's how I structure them: Interactive and Practical: We dive straight into coding and real-world applications. Each lesson is hands-on, so you’re not just learning theory—you’re building projects and solving problems as we go.

Tailored to You: I adapt the content to your skill level and interests, whether it’s software development, game programming, or understanding the fundamentals of computer science we can explore a wide range of topics to ensure you reach your goals.

Clear Guidance: I break down complex concepts into manageable chunks and provide clear explanations, ensuring you never feel overwhelmed.

Flexible Format: Lessons can be one-on-one or in small groups, delivered online or in person (where possible). I also provide extra resources like recorded sessions, notes, and coding exercises for practice between lessons.

Supportive Environment: No question is too small, and mistakes are part of learning. My aim is to help you build confidence while developing your skills.

When I needed help understanding Game Programming, Jay, in our first session, figured out my current programming level and listened to my gaps in knowledge. From that, he curated a well-tailored lesson plan for me, giving me confidence going forward. He is an excellent and very patient tutor; my C# sharp and Unity skills have improved immensely. I would recommend him to anyone struggling to learn programming from online materials.
