With more than 10 years of experience in football and education, I help young players develop their technical ability, confidence and understanding of the game—while building the character, resilience and discipline.
6 Years with Southampton FC across its Player Development Centres and Pre-Academy program. This experience gave me a strong foundation in player development, talent identification and delivering coaching environments that are engaging, challenging and purposeful. Players benefit from sessions designed to stretch their ability, improve their decision-making and help them perform with greater confidence.
I hold FA qualifications in football and futsal, a BSc in Football Coaching and Development from the University of South Wales, and a PGCE in Secondary Education, specializing in Physical Education. As a qualified teacher, I have extensive experience teaching PE. This has strengthened my understanding of child development and enables me to adapt my coaching to the way each young person learns, develops and responds to feedback.
My coaching philosophy is centered on developing well-rounded players through technical excellence, intelligent decision-making, confidence, discipline and enjoyment. Every session is tailored to the player’s age, ability, personality and goals, ensuring they receive the right level of challenge and support. Players can expect clear instruction, purposeful practice, video analysis, constructive feedback and a positive environment where they feel safe to make mistakes, learn and improve.
Whether a player is taking their first steps in football, looking to improve their performance or aspiring to reach academy level, I provide individualized coaching that delivers meaningful progress. Players develop a stronger understanding of their strengths, learn how to overcome challenges and build the confidence to apply their skills in matches. Parents can expect professional, supportive coaching that prioritizes both football development and personal growth.

My little brother had a football training session with Ryan and absolutely loved it! Ryan was great with him, made the session enjoyable, and really helped keep him motivated. He came away buzzing and couldn’t stop talking about how much he enjoyed it. Really positive experience from start to finish, and we’d definitely recommend Ryan to anyone looking for football coaching.
