About Poppy

I taught English in secondary schools for the best part of ten years, tutoring throughout. I have a current DBS Certificate. I trained with Harris Academies - the most rigorous teacher training in the country. My PGCE is from Goldsmiths University of London. I am a member of the teachers' union, the NEU, and the Tutors Association.

About the lesson

I am a qualified and experienced teacher of English, having taught at secondary schools, including at QE Boys and St Michaels Grammar schools, and rough comprehensive schools. Having marked the GCSEs, I specialise in examination preparation for GCSEs in AQA, Edexcel and OCR. My watchwords are fun and conscientiousness. Combining that seemingly paradoxical pairing works for me, for my pupils and for life in general. - Which subject(s) do you teach? I teach English Language and English Literature. - Tell me about your qualifications. As well as a QTS, and PGCE I have a variety of MAs including in Journalism and in Marketing and Communications, and a 1st Class BA. - How much do you charge? I charge £40 an hour for tutoring at my home or remotely. - Where do you teach? I teach at home and over the internet. - When are you available? Evenings most days, mornings at weekends as well. - Which ages and levels do you teach? I teach ages 10 and upwards. - Which qualifications do you prepare your students for? I prepare students for GCSEs mostly. - Do you have a personal message for students? There is no more effective way of unlocking your potential and giving the examiner what she needs than through one-to-one coaching.
