About Carol
I'm an experienced Chartered Psychologist (CPsychol.) with a PhD and an MSc in Health Psychology and a Teaching Certificate in Higher Education (FHEA). I have over 17 years of teaching experience at three UK universities. I've taught and supported students across undergraduate and postgraduate levels. I am experienced in supporting students through online and distance programmes. I have supported mature learners, international students and students with additional support needs. I help learners build confidence, understand complex ideas and succeed in their goals.
I am an active researcher and specialise in research methods, especially qualitative research methods and mixed-methods research. I am experienced dissertation supervisor with over 40 completions. I have successfully supervised Four Doctoral level qualifications. I have specialised in the training and development of research methods. I provide structured and evidence-based tutoring for learners' goals and am passionate about the topic. I am approachable and offer clear guidance focusing on conceptual understanding and critical thinking to support learners achieve their goals.

My teaching is student-centred, friendly and professional and tailored to students' goals. I use a flipped classroom and a structured approach to make complex topics accessible, build confidence and critical thinking. I can support university psychology at all levels. I can also support students from social science and health and social care disciplines in research methods and evidence-based methodology including evidence and literature reviews, synthesis, research methods, analysis, academic writing and presentations.
I offer a free 15-minute consultation call.
Lessons are one hour long online. Lessons may cover the following:
- Structuring your academic work
- Planning your research dissertation/project
- Critical thinking and questioning
-Using Academic Sources to support your work
- Creating a logical flow/argument
- Literature reviews and evidence synthesis
- Research Methods (Qualitative research methods including Reflexive thematic analysis, Grounded Theory, Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis; Discourse Analysis; Framework Analysis; mixed-methods including survey design).
- Analysing and making sense of your research data including coding, development of analysis
- PPI/Co-Design methods
- Discussion and conclusions
- Writing for publication
