About Tess
Hi there!
My name is Tess and I am a second year Psychology student at the University of York.
I sat my A levels in 2022 and I really enjoyed learning about Psychology and Sociology. One reason I would like to teach these subjects to others is because I think that they are really fun subjects once you are able to understand the content and are able to successfully answer exam and essay based questions. As someone who has sat A levels themselves, I am aware of what a stressful time this is for many and I would like to help students who may be struggling feel much more relaxed and confident for their exams.
I believe I am a good teacher as I am very patient and supportive when teaching others. I am also very passionate and motivated with what I do and I enjoy helping others achieve the grades they desire.

My qualifications include two A*s in my Psychology and Sociology A levels, and an A in my English literature A level. I achieved these grades due to effective revision methods and being able to apply my knowledge correctly to exam and essay questions. In our lessons, I will incorporate the methods I used during my A levels in order to help you achieve the grades you wish to receive.
My lessons are aimed at AQA Psychology and Sociology A level students. I only teach certain topics in these subjects, these include:
Psychology- Approaches, Biopsychology, Research methods, Issues and debates, Gender, Schizophrenia, Forensic Psychology, Social influence, Memory, Attachment and Psychopathology
Sociology- Family, Education, Beliefs in society, Crime and deviance, Research methods and Theories and methods.
In our lessons I aim to create a comfortable and relaxed learning environment for you. The layout of our lessons will be adapted to fit your learning requirements. For example, you may let me know which topics you are struggling with and I would create a lesson plan based on this. Furthermore, I would then go through some exam and essay questions and teach you how to answer them successfully.
I would recommend an hour session for our lessons, however, I offer shorter or longer sessions if you would prefer that.
