About Layla

I have completed my A Levels, where I did History, Politics and Classical Civilisation, where I received an A in history. I am also due to start my undergraduate history degree at University College London. I am extremely passionate about History and it is something I would love to pursue as a career in the future.

About the lesson

Topics preferably taught are IGCSE: Germany in the 20th century, the Cold War and the Treaty of Versailles, and OCR A level: The War of the Roses, the Cold War, and Civil rights in America from 1865-1992. Lessons can also purely consist of essay planning and source analysis regardless of topics students are studying. Each lesson must start with an introduction to review the lesson plan of the day. Additionally, lessons will be tailored to certain topics such as active recall, source analysis or essay planning. The lesson will also have a quick review of previous topics studied to ensure students are consistently remembering key topics. I believe it is important for me to briefly explain the activities of the lesson and then the student independently complete them, which we will then review together afterwards so they are confident in independently answering questions during the exam.

Layla is thoughtful, articulate and takes the time to make sure someone feels understood rather than rushed. She’s naturally encouraging, and I think anyone learning with her would feel very comfortable asking questions and building their confidence. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend her to anyone looking to build their confidence in English.

Layla is a fantastic tutor and has a really thoughtful approach to teaching. I particularly appreciate how clearly she explains things and how she adapts her teaching style to make sure everything is understood. She is patient, encouraging, and always makes learning feel comfortable rather than stressful.

One thing that really stands out is how much effort Layla puts into making each lesson engaging and tailored to the individual. I’ve seen how much confidence this approach can give a student. I would definitely recommend Layla to anyone looking for a supportive and knowledgeable tutor
