About Willow

My interest in programming began when I realised that small pieces of logic could create meaningful tools and experiences. This passion motivated me to earn a B.Sc in Software Development, where I explored the foundations of algorithms, software architecture, and structured coding practices. Over the past 8 years, I’ve helped students develop confidence in programming by teaching in a warm, encouraging, and clear style that makes complex ideas feel accessible. I believe students learn best when they feel supported and free to ask questions. My teaching style focuses on patient explanation, practical examples, and thoughtful correction so learners always know they’re progressing. I enjoy helping students understand not only how to write code, but why it works—an approach that builds strong long-term problem-solving ability. Many students who once felt intimidated by programming eventually become confident, curious, and independently motivated coders. Outside of teaching, I explore emerging technologies, work on personal coding projects, and continue studying new tools and languages. These experiences help me keep lessons current and relevant. Teaching programming is profoundly meaningful to me because I get to help students discover one of the most empowering skills of modern life.

About the lesson

Programming becomes much more approachable when students understand how simple logical steps grow into functioning programmes. In my lessons, I guide learners through Python, Java, algorithms, data structures, and foundational coding habits using clear explanations and supportive pacing. I emphasise calm, structured learning so students feel comfortable experimenting, practising, and gradually developing their own problem-solving intuition. Each session encourages creativity, logical thinking, and steady growth in coding confidence. Instruction is adjusted to match each student’s experience level. Beginners learn variables, loops, patterns, conditions, and simple programme building through hands-on examples. Intermediate learners practise modular design, debugging skills, structured functions, and early algorithmic thinking. Advanced students work on optimisation, project planning, API usage, and interview-style logic. Every lesson focuses on clarity, step-by-step progression, and building a practical understanding of how code behaves. Programming lessons also teach students resilience, curiosity, and independence. As they grow more comfortable with logic and structure, learners often gain confidence not only in coding but in other academic areas. Many discover that the process of building programmes helps them think more clearly in general. My goal is to help students feel empowered by their ability to create, analyse, and solve problems through code.
