About Tiffany

I have an M.A. and B.A. in English, A.A. in Liberal Arts, and currently completing a dissertation for my Doctor of Education in Higher Ed. Leadership. I'm a published fiction writer, academic author, and teach several creative writing workshops each year. I've been teaching English Comp 1 & 2, Research Writing, Business Writing, Intro to Literature, World Literature, British Literature, Communications, and Public Speaking since 2013. Prior to that, I tutored English and writing at the high school and college level for 4 years.

About the lesson

Today, education is not only necessary, but foundational to a thriving and productive society. It provides opportunity and consistently improves reflection, critical thinking, and problem solving abilities; skills that create a valuable member of the world. Education allows people to excel and improve not only their own lives, but the lives of those around them. Adversity and hardship can be overcome through a solid education and instill a sense of value and responsibility. As the daughter of an U.S. Army Sergeant, I was raised with a strong sense of responsibility to others, but it was with the complement of a powerful education that I was given the drive to succeed in all endeavors. I have witnessed powerful leaders throughout my life and model myself after them, encouraging others to do the same and supporting students and faculty alike to push themselves far beyond what they ever thought they were capable. I share my knowledge and experiences as an instructor and mentor students to deliver the highest quality work, instilling a sense of responsibility and respect of time management, and encourage them to look beyond themselves in order to contribute to an ever-changing world.

As a lifelong learner, I believe professional development and growth is not only critical to stay up to date on best practices, but to accreditation requirements, subject matter expertise, program success, and applying continually changing technology used in higher education. I believe that learner-oriented teaching practitioner model promotes learning that is both purposeful and enduring. As a teacher, it is my responsibility to know who my learners are, what kinds of knowledge and experience they bring to the group, and what they want to achieve so that I can tailor a curriculum that fits their needs and yet leaves enough room to accommodate topics that emerge from group discovery.
