About Cate
I am a professional singer/songwriter trained by the Katie Gornick Vocal Studio, Boston Conservatory at Berklee, and Elon University. I have trained students in voice ages 11-18 for performances and auditions. I specialize in pop, rock, and musical theatre techniques. My students consistently book roles and give stellar performances. I teach not only technique but also song performance to ensure that the physical performance you give matches the incredible technical work you are vocalizing. I believe that great teachers make great singers and owe all of my success to the four incredible teachers who made my voice what it is. My teaching style is warm and kind but structured and focused. I want to create a comfortable and safe environment where my students can do their best work.

From my own experience in voice lessons, I know that the best way to learn is when you love what you’re doing. In other words, together, we will build a list of songs that you love and that will best address your personal technique goals.
I want to help you achieve whatever your goal is. Whether it be an audition, College auditions, performances, or personal improvement, we will work together to make sure your curriculum is catered to your needs.
A typical lesson will start off with vocal warm ups, then we will discuss how practice went. Following that, we will workshop one or more of the songs you are working on. While we work on technique through warm ups, the true work comes in song workshop.
Think of a song like a case study in a particular technique. Say you want to improve your mix, we will choose a song that you love, which will motivate you to practice, and that requires mixing. This pedagogical method may seem frustrating at first, but because it is motivating, it is highly effective.
I have had life-changing voice teachers and my goal is to pay it forward and help you achieve your short and long term goals.

Cate has really helped me grow as a singer.
