About Brendan

A western classically trained violinist, Brendan has been playing the violin for over 13 years and has performed with orchestras such as The Indian National Youth Orchestra and The Bombay Chamber Orchestra at venues like The NCPA Tata Theatre, Jamshed Bhabha Theatre , Ketevan music festival Goa, and many more.

Brendan extensively tours with his band 'Jo aur Vo' , performing various genres of music across the country, having done shows across the country and even internationally. His band has recently brought in praise from the likes of Shankar Mahadevan, R Madhavan , Dia Mirza, and also from Star World India. They regularly post videos and have a considerable presence on the social media site, YouTube.

Brendan also works as a freelance live and session violinist, having played for various television advertisements and films.

He is currently virtually training students from London, US, Germany, Dublin, Canada, and India.

About the lesson

As a teacher, Brendan draws on his practical gigging experience as well as some of his professional training (especially in the music theory department) in lessons. Brendan enjoys taking on beginners where he focuses on ear training with games and popular songs and learning to read music. Equally, he takes on more experienced players that want to get into the nitty-gritty of a specific genre of music (syncopation, articulation, phrasing, harmony and performance techniques, etc.)

Brendan has successfully, with merit, completed the Grade 8 certification in Violin Performance from Trinity College London and will be training his pupils to appear for these certifications with a thorough curriculum.
Brendan takes in the interests of his students, the music they listen to, and what they may want to play on the violin. Being fluent in most genres of music, be like Western Classical, Bollywood, Jazz, or RnB, Brendan can mold a curriculum specifically in the interests of his pupil.

Apart from the violin, he also plays the guitar and keyboards, often accompanying his students while learning pieces making lessons more fun and interactive.

Brendan follows The Eta Cohen Method of Violin Training, which includes emphasis on reading Sheet music, Violin Technique, Rhythmical Variations, and Ear Training. This Method is widely followed in the UK. The method is based around the idea of teaching the violin incrementally, covering one new idea at a time. Breaking down difficult technical tasks and reconstructing them in easy stages.
