About Zara
I’m a piano tutor with 2 years of experience and a Doctor of Musical Arts (DMA) in Piano Performance. My passion lies in helping talented students reach the level required for advanced jazz programmes at institutions such as Berklee, Juilliard, and other respected conservatories.
My teaching blends technical discipline with the creative energy of jazz. Students work on chord voicings, jazz harmony, improvisation, and rhythmic precision. These skills help build confidence and flexibility at the piano.
We also explore classic jazz repertoire and analyse how great musicians shape their musical ideas. Improvisation plays a central role in my lessons. It allows students to discover their unique musical voice.
I aim to create a supportive yet challenging learning environment. My goal is to unlock each student’s creative and technical potential for advanced jazz performance. Let’s take your jazz piano playing to the next level.

My teaching style focuses on developing expressive and thoughtful classical pianists. I believe students perform better when they understand both the technique and the story behind the music. Lessons combine careful technical training with musical exploration.
We spend time analysing classical repertoire and understanding how pieces are structured. Students learn about forms such as sonata form, theme and variations, and other important musical designs. This knowledge helps them approach complex pieces with confidence.
Historical context also plays a key role. Students learn about the composers, the time periods, and the artistic ideas that shaped the music. These insights help bring authenticity to their performances.
Expressive interpretation is always encouraged. Students learn to shape phrases, manage dynamics, and communicate feeling through the piano. Some students also find that playing brings focus and emotional balance. My goal is to guide each learner towards nuanced and meaningful performances. Together we bring classical masterworks to life.
