About Jesse
Jesse MacKenzie is a graduate of Salem College where she studied intensively with Dr. Barbara Lister-Sink in both undergraduate and master's level music programs. She was a teaching assistant during Summer workshops and worked closely with Dr. Lister-Sink in retraining dozens of students with various technical problems or injuries.
Since 2012, she has taught a wide variety of students, beginner to advanced. Her private studio, Piano Success, is a welcoming and empowering place for adult students both in-person and online.

My approach is thoroughly grounded in the Lister-Sink Method for Well-Coordinated Keyboard Technique - both Piano and Organ - as well as the Alexander Technique for whole body coordination.
Students often come to me with pain or discomfort in playing or with frustration over technical limitations. A basic evaluation of their technique allows me to present them with a plan for learning new skills and overcoming these limitations.
Adding Music Theory and Music History into the lessons provides context and expands students' knowledge and enjoyment of the pieces they are assigned or choose to learn. The joy of making and sharing music is always the ultimate goal!
