I knew Alan through our work together in the wedding industry and liked his style and the work he produced. He is also such a decent guy - we got on well. For many years I have been a keen amateur but wanted to improve and move to a new level and Alan was naturally my first choice. We have worked together for about 20 one to one sessions and have a small handful left to go. Alan is very knowledgeable with many years of experience in the professional photography world and makes a great teacher when it comes to imparting his knowledge. He seemed to have a great understanding when it came to identifying my level of experience and knowledge and easily identified the areas in which I needed to (and still need to strengthen). He teaches as a teacher should, identifying good practice and pointing out and explaining how to improve particular aspects of my work. His teaching methods are sound - but he can identify others’ areas for improvement in an encouraging manner and never making the student feel stupid or inadequate. Alan followed up with a series of short notes detailing the issues which we had addressed which was very helpful to remind me after the lessons. I look forward to some more teaching sessions. It is without any hesitation that I would recommend to any amateur or even professional needing to hone their skills (at whatever lesson) that they contact Alan and take things forward.
