About Mariana
Over 25 years! That's how long I've been playing around with art!
I'm 35 years old and I consider myself to be pretty easygoing, cheerful and nice to everyone. I like my classes to be really chill and casual, though if you're feeling adventurous I can give you a hell of a challenge if that's what you're looking for! I'm also extremely honest and I will gladly let you know my opinion on things.
I have two supervisors - Kiwi and Pistachio, my dogs, who never leave my side - and they might even make an appearance on camera here and there to check out your work. Pistachio is fine but Kiwi is really picky, so you might wanna put up your best effort to please him!
The only thing that I ask is that, while chatting during class, let's please leave out politics and religion. I've got nothing against those topics, I just think that they stir trouble more often than not and I'd rather stay away from that possibility. I just want a nice environment where we can get along!
As for the career technicalities: I got my diploma in Visual Arts in 2012, then immediately moved to the US in order to pursue my animation career. I spent 3 years there studying art and animation - Entertainment Design and Digital Production - in one of the best art/3D schools in the world, called Gnomon. I got my certificate in 2016, and I've worked as freelance illustrator for years. In 2018 I got hired by Treyarch to work as a character animator for Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 and, today, I work in the film, game and animation industry.
Even though nowadays I prefer having illustration and drawing as a hobby, nothing stops me from teaching it to other people. There's honestly nothing more satisfying than seeing someone improve with my help. I hope to see you around!

I've taught all ages and levels before, from people who wanted to draw or paint casually, to those who wanted to apply for an art school, to others who wanted to do art professionally.
My focus is primarily adults and I don't usually teach kids and pre-teens due to the complexity of the entire teaching process, and how much more difficult it is than teaching adults. However, I'd be willing to teach kids for an extra fee included ($20 more, making it $65 total per lesson).
I'll be teaching you the subjects I can see you have most difficulty with - be it figure drawing, perspective, concept art or even going back to fundamentals as a reminder. I do both traditional and digital art, so I can also teach you how to move from one media to another without fear!
I like to have a quick 1:1 before our first official lesson to help me know you better, talk more about your goals and see some of your work (if any). It's mostly a casual chat to get to know you better and introduce myself and it rarely lasts a full hour. This helps me not only when preparing personalized art lessons for you, whatever your focus may be, but also when figuring out what works best for you in terms of learning, such as:
- Do you have time for homework?
- Do you prefer a more objective explanation as opposed to a more detailed one?
- Do you prefer learning all the theory first and then practicing later all at once, or to take it in small chunks?
- How experienced are you in art?
- Do you prefer a more casual class or one that challenges you every time?
Just a tiny PSA - if you're starting out from the very beginning with the fundamentals, please bear with me for a couple of classes because it will probably be super boring at first! I'll try to make it as entertaining as possible, but I'm (painfully) aware of how dull the more technical subjects can be. I PROMISE it will get better. Pinky promise.
Also: no-shows or cancellations without previous notice will be considered taught classes and charged in full, as I allocate my time and availability according to the schedule.
If you'd like to see some of my work, feel free to take a look around my website: marikot . com / illustration

I should also mention that I have severe ADHD and I deal with it literally on a daily basis. However, even though it does have its shortcomings, I don't consider it a fully bad thing! Not only does that mean that I work harder than a lot of people out there, but also that I know how to deal with people who are in the same position as I am. I might even be able to teach tricks on how to take advantage of it! So if you're in the same boat, hop in and let's figure out together how to steer this business!

Mariana is a very supportive and excellent teacher. She is clear when explaining concepts and patient with any questions I had.
Mariana is wonderful! She is a very talented and versatile artist, and a very patient instructor.
As a friend Mariana has proved to be a kind and generous person, an attentive listener with a passion to support her friend's success. Her genuine and warm personality with the ability to take infomation and turn it into tackle-able goals as well as her ability for clear and consice instructions, would make Mariana an excellent a tutor. Anyone who worked with Marianna would find their goals achieved, gain confidence and have a wonderful experience while doing so.
Mariana is a smart and 'direct' teacher. Her explanation about a lesson is to the point and easy to follow and understood. Even for a non native English speaker like me. She's sweet but honest when she's giving you a constructive advice/critics. She's very patient teaching you from the very basic until advance lessons on your pace.
Mariana is an excellent drawing teacher. She gave me lessons while I was already in my 20s (and let me tell you...I don't have a 'gift'!) and was very patient. Thanks to her, I can now feel more confident with my doodles and drawings!
Mariana is the best instructor I have ever had. She's patient and super kind. She took her time to explain and helped me understand if I was having trouble. I definitely recommend her.
Mariana is a brilliant communicator. Her lessons really helped grow my understanding in art, and thanks to her guidance I am now able to do much more than I was before.
I have a hard time grasping some basic art / drawing concepts and Mariana has helped me understand them quite easily! She has great teaching skills and won't refrain from giving you her all to help you achieve your goals, so I absolutely recommend taking a class with her! Hands down.
Known her for a few years, has an excellent style of drawing. Years of experience and high quality art make her an amazing choice of tutor or teacher ready to help you get even better at your own art. Id recommend her to anyone that wants to learn from a professional in the art industry space.
