About Antonio

I am an active drummer in the New York jazz scene, performing regularly at some of the city’s most prestigious clubs and gaining international experience through performances around the world. My journey has been enriched by notable achievements, including receiving the Recognition of Outstanding Musicianship award at Umbria Jazz 2017 and winning a DownBeat award in the Small Jazz Ensemble category in 2024. These experiences, along with numerous collaborations, have shaped my unique and personal teaching method. While my approach is highly individualized, it is also rooted in a solid foundation built through studying with some of the world’s leading drummers, including Gregory Hutchinson, Carl Allen, Nasheet Waits, Kendrick Scott, and a special one-on-one mentorship with Dave Weckl in 2016. My method is designed to adapt to each student’s needs, focusing on essential elements like snare drum technique, coordination, and independence while creating personalized paths to help every student achieve their goals.

About the lesson

My lessons are based on identifying the method that best suits each student.

There is no single method for everyone because we are all different.

While there are fundamental aspects such as snare drum study, coordination, independence and phrasing

I have developed skills to guide each person to the same level by following different paths that are fully adapted to the student, not the other way around.

Antonio has greatly helped me and my jazz ensemble with our overall approach to tunes. He gave us many useful exercises ranging from time feel, to communication between band members. Would highly recommend him for anyone looking to improve their drumming/ general musical knowledge.

I wanted to get back into drumming after a while of not having the opportunity to do so, and Antonio provided me with incredibly helpful material and insights that have aided me in my journey. He focuses heavily on technique and fundamentals, so what you've learned is applicable to any genre. He doesn't breeze past anything and takes the time to break things down if you're struggling, and he tailors the practice material to your skill level. He is incredibly encouraging and inspires you to want to push through rough patches; my progression in skill was achieveable and tangible.
