About the lesson

Grammar gets taught through recipe instructions and food writing, since imperative structures and sequencing language come up constantly and naturally in this kind of material. I encourage students to describe dishes, flavors, and food memories from their own culture, building genuine, personal speaking practice rather than generic scripted topics nobody actually cares about. Listening practice sometimes uses cooking videos and food shows from across the Spanish-speaking world, exposing students to natural, conversational Spanish wrapped around something genuinely enjoyable. I keep lessons warm and a little informal, closer to chatting in a kitchen than sitting in a classroom, because that relaxed atmosphere genuinely helps nervous students open up. Cultural context around food and dining etiquette gets real attention too, since that knowledge matters enormously when traveling. Every lesson leaves students hungry and fluent.
