About James

I trained at Guildford School of Acting and have been acting professionally for the last 14 years.

I am currently appearing on Netflix in, 'Vikings Valhalla' as Hallbjorn, and Acorn Tv's, 'Queens of Mystery' as George. Other credits include; The BBC's 'The Capture', the film adaptation of 'London Road' for The National Theatre and several West End credits including the original cast of, 'From Here to Eternity', 'Billy Elliot' and 'Kinky Boots'.

I tutor students who are just starting out, to professional actors looking to keep themselves sharp. Whether you are working towards a specific audition or you're just looking to build confidence in yourself and your abilities, I can create a programme specific to you, to help you achieve your goals.

I specialise in audition preparation, scene study, self tapes, acting for tv/film and acting through song.

About the lesson

I coach for professional and drama school auditions, but also for actors who are wanting to work on their craft with monologue or scene study. If you want to work on acting through song then this is something that I can also cater for.

My lessons focus on understanding the text of the piece being worked on and how to perform truthfully. No matter what your goal, once we have discussed exactly what that is, I aim to help you achieve your aspirations.

Most of all I want you to feel confident in yourself and your ability to perform to the best of your abilities. There is no substitute for putting in hard work and detailed research but working together I can guide you through methods to make you feel at home in any character.

Audition Prep:
Whether your audition is in person or a self tape, I can help you to break down the material, section by section to really understand the whole scene. By doing this we can make exciting choices, whilst also staying truthful and giving you the freedom to play the scene in different ways.

Drama School Auditions:
The prospect of auditioning for Drama Schools can be very intimidating. I would aim to break down barriers you are facing and give you confidence in your audition material.

Finding the right material, 'for you' is an important decision. Together we would find audition pieces that you felt comfortable with and that will showcase your talent. Whether you are auditioning for Acting courses or for a Musical Theatre course, we can choose monologues and songs that will showcase you best on the day.

If you're a professional, a student or just beginning on your acting journey, together we can build the perfect programme for you, to help you build confidence and most of all have fun and enjoy yourself.
