About Isabelle

I’m a violinist and composer studying at Princeton University, with additional training at the Royal College of Music in London. I sub with the Princeton Symphony Orchestra and Symphony in C, have performed with Patricia Kopatchinskaja, and have won international competitions and played in national orchestras and festivals.

As a composer, I’ve won ASCAP awards, worked with GRAMMY-winning ensembles, and was recently commissioned for the Kennedy Center. I’m also composer-in-residence for several ensembles at Princeton.

Music has shaped my whole life, and I love helping students discover that same excitement.

About the lesson

I’m a violinist and composer, so I teach both how to play and how the music works! Violin lessons build good posture, a relaxed bow hold, and a steady left hand, then focus on sound, intonation, and phrasing. Lessons usually include scales, an etude, and repertoire, plus clear goals for the week. Theory lessons use piece excerpts to teach reading, harmony, ear training, and analysis, with composition for advanced students.

I was concertmaster of my youth orchestra for six years, played in the All-National Symphony Orchestra twice, performed at international festivals, and studied in masterclasses with artists like Midori. I’ve mentored young violinists into All-State and know how to make audition prep less stressful. I teach all ages and levels, from beginners to students preparing for auditions or AP Music Theory.
