About Davidson

Good day my pupils,

My name is Mr. Davidson and I will be your Common Entrance teacher.

I am not just your teacher, I am your coach, your guide, and your number one fan. My job is to take you from where you are now to the top secondary school of your dream.

I want to teach you because I know Common Entrance is not easy, but I also know YOU can pass it. I have taught many pupils before you who are now in Federal Government College, and other good schools, and now it is your turn.

I did not come here just to give you notes to copy. I came to make learning simple, to show you the secret of passing objectives and theory, and to make you confident to answer any question.

In my class, we have 3 rules:
1. We listen when someone is talking.
2. We try, we don't say 'I don't know' without trying.
3. We respect each other.

I will be strict when marking your work because I want you to be excellent. I will also praise you when you do well because I am proud of you.

I am happy to be your teacher, and I promise you, if you listen, do your assignments, and believe in yourself - by the grace of God, we will all celebrate your admission together.

About the lesson

To prepare pupils to pass National Common Entrance, State Common Entrance and Entrance into top secondary schools with high scores, while ensuring they understand the subject, not just cram.

2. CORE TEACHING METHODOLOGIES

*A. Learner-Centered Methodology*
The teacher does not just lecture. The pupil does 70% of the work. Teacher explains 30%, pupils answer, demonstrate, and discover.

*B. Montessori / Activity-Based Method*
Especially for Primary 5-6. You use real objects.

*C. Question and Answer / Socratic Technique*

*D. Note - Objective - Theory - Past Question Chain

*E. Drilling and Repetition Technique*
Common Entrance is speed + accuracy.
- Daily 10 objectives drill
- Weekly spelling of key terms: Perennial, Biennial, Tanning, Scaffolding
- Daily mental math / vocabulary

*F. Differentiated Learning Technique*
In one class you have bright, average and weak pupils.
- Bright: Give them extra past questions to solve on the board
- Average: Pair them with bright ones
- Weak: Call them for extra lesson after class, give them simplified notes

*G. Demonstration Method*
For Vocational and Agric practical:
Demonstrate how oil is extracted, how to hold paintbrush, how to tan leather, then let pupils demonstrate.

*H. Storytelling / Bible Narrative Method*
For C.R.S - Saul's conversion, Missionary Journey - tell it as a story, act it in class.

3. INSTRUCTIONAL TECHNIQUES

*1. Lesson Plan:* Every topic must have clear objectives: By the end of the lesson, pupils should be able to mention 3...
*2. Use of Board:* Divide board into 3 - Date/Topic, Main Notes, Key Words.
*3. Use of Marking Scheme:* Mark like Common Entrance examiner - tick correct, circle and show scores like 10/15, 20/20. Pupils love scores.
*4. Immediate Correction:* Never leave assignment unmarked till next day. Mark and correct same day.
*5. Mock Examination Technique:* Conduct full Common Entrance mock every 2 weeks with OMR shading sheet, time limit.
*6. Parent Feedback Technique:* Send result slip home weekly so parents know performance.

4. EVALUATION TECHNIQUES

- Formative: Classwork, oral questions
- Summative: Weekend assignment, Monthly test
- Predictive: Past Questions Test - Use NCEE past questions from 2014-2025
