About ALAN
A student of mine in Woodland Park became the first All-State Band member from WP since 2016. I have students from The Classical Academy and The Colorado Springs School. I have taught in Kansas, Colorado and Texas, highlighted by 15 years in Crane, Texas. I have started with learning how to put the horn together and guided students from that stage to being 4 Year All-State musicians. From tiny farming communities to metropolitan areas, students with talent and a work-ethic can succeed and excel. I remarried and moved to Colorado to be with my new wife.

Fundamentals. Tone production. Technical exercises. Phrasing. Musicality. Prepare All-State materials. Work on fun music not geared toward competition. Find the proper balance between serious preparation for competition and being able to relax and enjoy playing the instrument because it is fun to do.
