About Tyler
Tyler Danielle Potter is a British artist, designer, writer and mentor whose practice spans drawing/painting, constructed textiles, mixed-media installation, curation and creative writing.
She graduated with a First-Class BA (Hons) in Fine Art from the University for the Creative Arts (Canterbury) in 2020, where she was awarded the CRATE Studio and Project Space Graduate Award. During her undergraduate studies, she completed a placement at Cyprus College of Art and held her first solo exhibition, Soft and Found, at The Brewery Tap Project Space in Folkestone.
Following her BA, Potter spent three years living and travelling across Europe aboard a 28ft sailboat. This formative period deepened her relationship with landscape, sensory experience and cross-cultural exchange, themes that continue to inform her practice. During this time, she developed her work independently, taking commissions and building her understanding of sustainable creative enterprise.
In 2024, she completed her MA in Contemporary Art Practice at the Royal College of Art. While at the RCA, her work was presented at a Tate Lates event and she curated a group exhibition featuring sixteen artists as part of her research into collaborative and community-led practice.
Alongside her studio work, Potter mentors art and design students, including BA and MA applicants developing conceptual portfolios for leading art schools. Drawing on her experience as an exhibiting artist, RCA graduate and art teacher, she supports emerging artists in refining their visual language, articulating critical positions, sequencing work and building confidence throughout their studies.
She continues to expand her practice through exhibitions, commissions, experimental writing and research-driven projects.

Perfect! Tyler is an incredibly attentive instructor: she goes to great lengths to really get to know her pupils so that their personality and interests are truly reflected in their work. Tyler clearly gives each lesson a lot of thought beforehand so that every moment is productive - and enjoyable. A great tutor!!
- Dina's Husband is a lifelong art lover and collector, working with him has been an absolute pleasure so far. He is keen on learning to paint using both acrylics and oils, so we started out with an acrylic techniques page in his sketchbook. During our first session, we also discussed his interests and the importance of understanding the basics of painting as a starting point. We've now begun working through a series of acrylic paintings that will help him apply each of the introductory techniques to a finished artwork on canvas. I'm looking forward to continuing to support Dina's husband throughout his painting journey.Tyler's response :
Perfect! Tyler is a great tutor. My son is taking face to face lessons and he enjoys them a lot. His art significantly improved since he started to work with Tyler. She is very organized and build strong lesson plans. She has great communication skills as well as extensive knowledge on the subjects she teaches. Highly recommend
- My first two sessions with Selim’s son have been excellent. After decorating his sketchbook cover during our trial, the second tutorial began with him volunteering to complete his mind-mip of ideas/interests in his own time: This allowed us to dive straight into some human figure sketches. An interest in street/hip-hop dance led us to attempt a rather complex position very early on. Comparing a first and second attempt at this drawing allowed the student to see for himself that practice is key for improving technical skills, it was delightful to see him feeling proud of how much he had achieved in just one session. I’m looking forward to seeing his abilities improve and confidence grow with even more practice and guidance!Tyler's response :
Perfect! Amazing Art teacher ! Very gentle and kind ! And so professional ! I would highly recommend.
- Jenny's son is really interested in creating different cartoon characters, from horror to anthropomorphised food items! He seemed to really enjoy our trial session and I'm excited to be able to help support his creative journey further by teaching him various drawing techniques and introducing a range of additional mediums for him to experiment with. Although our availability doesn't quite align this term, we're hoping to fit some sessions in after October half-term :)Tyler's response :
Perfect! Tyler is a lovely person and great teacher. She put my daughter at ease instantly and was punctual and professional! Thank you :)
- Alison's daughter is clearly very passionate about her creative endeavours and also keen to improve, she was very curious and seemed quite mature for her age. During our trial session, we created a mind-map to help us choose subjects for the portfolio pieces that we'll be working on over the next few weeks. I'm looking forward to helping Alison's daughter pay more attention to detail, challenging her to work at larger scales and creating a portfolio they can both be proud of! :)Tyler's response :
Perfect! very engaging and kind with lots of ideas. My daughter loved her session and we've booked for a weekly slot next term.
- My trial with Georgina's Daughter provided an amazing opportunity to discuss lots of broad ideas and also some specific interests in birds, insects and detail to name a few. This student seemed keen on developing her technical drawing skills and learning how to draw faces with more accuracy, so we'll definitely be diving into lots of drawing sessions soon. She expressed some preferences when it comes to art materials/mediums while also remaining open to trying out new things! I'm looking forward to working with her in the future and seeing how her work progresses through the introduction of new skills, techniques and materials alongside the involvement of her interests :)Tyler's response :
Perfect! Tyler was fantastic with my 9-year-old son, who’s very active and had never had art lessons before. She kept him engaged for a full hour—something that rarely happens—and made him feel comfortable and inspired. He even wanted to keep drawing after she left. A wonderful first experience!
- Liliya's son has strong interests in Harry Potter, Fortnite and different superheros. During his trial he asked if we could draw the Hogwarts castle and discuss his interests instead of making a mind map, so that's exactly what we did. The following week we made a mind map in his own style. This student has also told me about a style of abstract drawing he enjoys and I'm looking forward to working on these with him in the future, as well as introducing him to a range of new materials and processes to help him develop his work.Tyler's response :
Perfect! Tyler is the most wonderful addition to my girls lives. She brings creativity, patience and sweetness and the girls are really enjoying learning with her
- Oliver's two girls are very keen to learn how to harness their creativity and I'm looking forward to helping them do exactly that. Our first session was all about exploring their interests and the next step will be introducing lots of different mediums and techniques for them to experiment with :)Tyler's response :
Perfect! Tyler has had two sessions now with Clarissa and I am so happy with her methods and also with her ability to engage and inspire her already. Clarissa was struggling with her first year of GCSE Art and Tyler has managed to totally calm and rationalise her fears. Highly recommend
- Leonora’s daughter is very passionate about scrapbooking/collage, fashion, photography and resin crafts. She is also clearly motivated to improve her traditional drawing skills and ability to meet deadlines for her GCSE coursework! This student has lots of exciting ideas surrounding her assigned theme of ‘Human Figures’ and I’m looking forward to supporting her on her journey of bringing those ideas to life :)Tyler's response :
Perfect! Tyler is so easy and calm to be with. I could feel all the stress of being a busy parent start to fall away as we focussed on the crochet. She had me and my 10 year son to help and we were both a bit needy at the start, but she dealt with this really well. Tyler is kind, patient and non-judgemental and great at crochet! We will definitely see her again. My son is now really into finger crochet and thinks he is a expert
- It was an absolute pleasure to show Eve and her son how to crochet using their hands, with gorgeous chunky yarn that they picked out! They both got the hang of it pretty quickly for beginners and I wish them the best of luck finishing off the blanket that we started making together, I'm sure the end result will be fantastic :)Tyler's response :

She is open to exploring any medium with you and helps you truly express yourself and your crazy ideas. I have learnt so much from my lessons with her about art theory, colour psychology and drawing fundamentals. She has a gentle way of nudging and encouraging you to push outside of your comfort zone. It has been a very educational and therapeutic experience.
She also has a great record of building portfolios and has helped several students get into their dram college :)Tyler and I have worked together at workshops and art classes on multiple occasions. Tyler’s creativity and her desire to educate shines through in her personality, she’s also very adventurous and an absolute charm to work with! I recommend her as a great Tutor!
I have know Tyler for many years, watching her grow into the nature young lady that she is now. With a lot of young people maturity comes with age, Tyler has had a maturity beyond her years since early teens. I believe she has most shown this when I have watched her interacting with her peers but especially more with younger people, showing her ability to converse at all levels giving them time & space to express themselves.
If I ever had the need for an art tutor I would not hesitate in choosing Tyler.

Tyler is a wonderful artist and teacher, with a real passion for nurturing students into their own potential. Couldn't recommend her enough, 10/10.
I’ve had the pleasure of knowing Tyler for over a year now as an artist, facilitator and dear friend. Her art practice is hands-on, working with textiles to weave and crochet. Her approach to teaching is similar! She is gentle, meticulous and incredibly patient. i’ve been in her workshops and have also seen her work with people of all ages and backgrounds and im glad to say that the teaching atmosphere she cultivates is one of comfort and enthusiasm.
Tyler is a very down to earth, honest and genuine individual. It has been an honour to meet such a kind hearted person who truly listens and is very empathetic. Highly recommend her as a tutor! No doubt she’ll excel and go above and beyond.
Tyler’s a super passionate tutor with great experience, she just finished a Masters degree at the Royal College of Art and has a really interesting and unique creative approach, she is very versatile and practiced in a wide range of mediums. I’d definitely recommend her as a tutor, she’s incredibly kind and patient and great at giving people confidence in their practice and helping to further their development.
Tyler’s work is very eye catching and captivating. It inspired me to take up crocheting and she has taught me to make my own clothing, aiding my effort towards a more ethical wardrobe :)
I have known Tyler for years, seeing her achieve at college and university with her amazing creations. Tyler is a fantastic artist with so much passion and talent. With no experience doing art before she was able to talk me through the steps when I started to paint and crochet. Since then I’ve really took all her the tips and tricks and applied them in other things I have made.
Tyler is a super creative and talented artist and tutor. She adds her magic to all her pieces and is very patient and helpful to everyone around her.
Tyler has helped me progress my art in ways I never thought possible, gave me different open ideas. Translating raw emotion and energy into my art, creating whole domains of colour and texture. Tyler is very kind and her expertise is amazing
