About Tasneem

that was well deserved. He chose his replacement and they were equally enthusiastic to maintain the high standards and push us to our limits. Every homework was expected to be our best effort, every question needed answering, and good behavior was something he took as standard practice. Me and most of my class achieved our targets or better and many of us had become determined to study Mathematics at A-level or even university level. This was not normal at my school; our A-level Math students were so numerous that they added a second class. Further Math at A-level was, for the first time, as popular as many other subjects. No more was it the subject three students would take and study after-school. My teachers had changed how Math was viewed for the better.

focus on various engaging teaching methods and strategies to improve student motivation and understanding, such as using open-ended questions, interactive drawing assessments, and visual aids
Open-Ended Questions:
Encourage students to explore mathematical ideas by asking questions that don't have a single, simple answer.
Number Talks:
Start lessons with a number talk, a brief activity where students discuss different ways to solve a problem, fostering critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
Interactive Visualizations:
Utilize interactive drawing tools and visual aids like graphs and infographics to help students understand and retain mathematical concepts.
Clear Language and Definitions:
Explain concepts using simple, straightforward language and define any mathematical jargon you use to avoid confusion.
Encourage Questions:
Create a supportive classroom environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, whether in person or anonymously through online platforms.
Use of Technology:
Incorporate tools such as Nearpod, Canva, or Google Slides to create engaging, visually appealing presentations and interactive lessons.
Modeling Problem-Solving:
Demonstrate the step-by-step process of solving problems to provide students with a clear framework for approaching new challenges.
Vocabulary Development:
Teach mathematical vocabulary explicitly, perhaps using a "matching pairs" activity, to ensure students understand the terminology used in the subject.
Benefits of Engaging Lessons
Increased Motivation:
Making lessons interesting leads to greater student participation and engagement with the material.
Improved Understanding:
Active and interactive learning methods help students grasp mathematical concepts more deeply and remember them long-term.
Skill Development:
Engaging activities help develop critical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and curiosity.
Reduced Math Anxiety:
A more dynamic and supportive learning environment can lessen negative attitudes and anxiety towards mathematics.
