About Henk
I am a well qualified person in Forestry (BSc Hons.), including subjects like forest mensuration and biometry that is statistics used for studying population growth of in biosystems. I also have a BSc. Hons. degree in Plant Physiology and ecology a well a PhD. My thesis was about the occurrence of a anti blood clot compound in the African Coral tree. I have a Post Graduate Diploma in Teaching (Secondary School) and another few certificates in genetic studies. Therefore I am very well equipped to give you practical mathematics examples and talk about it and my adventures around it in many fields of biology, forestry and cell biochemistry, whatever suits you. The average maths teacher will give the students year after year the same boring examples. This you will not get in my classes.
As a person I am very concerned about the academic welfare of my students. We will work on your problem areas until you understand it, even if it takes a year. I am friendly, all people from Africa are friendly. They say its because of all the sunshine. My classes do not carry on until you cannot concentrate anymore. We have a halfway 5-10 minute break and you can grab a cup of coffee or tea. This sharpens your concentration and keep you fresh.

All communication with students is rendered confidential. I have a value system based on respect for my students, the community and the environment. I do not talk politics or religion with students, we keep strictly to the subject matter. I am on time and prepared for my students. I have a few class rules that are easy to follow. I have a 5 min break halfway through my classes to ensure good concentration.
I am friendly, helpful, have a great interest in students' progress, build self confidence of students. I am skilled in teaching mathematics face to face but prefer video conferencing.
I prefer to help students who have difficulty to understand maths, hate it and those who need to catch up. I prefer teaching students from 12 to 17 years of age. I am not trained or skilled to work with students who suffer from mental conditions.
