About John
I rely on the same philosophy as the Assimil language series, where grammar doesn't necessarily need to be explained at first - instead you focus on introducing phrases and breaking down grammar later. This way it better mimics how you acquired your native language - through conversation. Using this method, players in my French D&D game are better self-motivated to pick up more of the language, and that's why you should have me as a tutor. Language learning should not be a chore, it should be a thing you look forward to, a tool that allows you to have experiences you wouldn't have otherwise.

I'm a polyglot that runs a game of D&D in French and goes to language meetups where they keep thinking I'm French (I'm not). In both settings, I use the same philosophy as the Assimil language learning series, where you don't get bogged down with learning morphology and syntax up front, but instead focus on learning phrases in a conversational context, then break down the grammar after you've acquired a conversational proficiency with the language. Having a conversational method allows the lesson to be very free-form and student-oriented, and it turns out that student agency is a great tool for language acquisition.
