About Jarrett
I am a passionate flute tutor with 9 years of experience and a track record of teaching over 150 students. My approach balances technical skill-building—breath control, tone, finger technique, and rhythm—with creative exercises such as improvisation and expressive performance. Each lesson is tailored to the student’s learning style and goals, ensuring steady progress in an encouraging environment.
I also provide guidance in sight-reading, music theory, and ensemble practice to give students a complete musical education. My goal is to help students become confident, expressive, and motivated flautists.

My flute teaching methodology is focused on creating a personalised, adaptive, and inspiring learning experience. I start by understanding each student’s learning style—visual, auditory, or hands-on—and design lessons that fit their strengths and pace. This ensures that students remain engaged, motivated, and confident in their progress.
Flexibility is central to my approach. I adjust exercises, repertoire, and practice routines according to each student’s goals, interests, and skill level, allowing them to progress steadily while enjoying the journey. Collaboration is key: students participate in duets, ensemble exercises, and group activities to enhance confidence, timing, and musical expression. Positivity underpins every lesson, fostering a supportive environment where students feel encouraged to experiment, take risks, and celebrate successes.
Alongside flute instruction, I incorporate music theory, sight-reading, rhythm exercises, and ear training. This holistic methodology balances technical mastery with creative expression, helping students become confident, expressive, and versatile musicians.
