About Samuel
French pianist Samuel Lerner made his first trip from Paris to New York in 2012 and recorded a set of his compositions for his debut album “Zomb(i)ebop” with legendary drummer Leroy Williams and bassist Tal Ronen released on the label Black and Blue. Performing actively in Europe in major Jazz festivals and clubs and multiplying trips across the Atlantic, Lerner recorded a second album in 2018 “Fall’s Start” with drummer Clifford Barbaro and bassist Ben Meigners released on the New York label Gut String Records. In 2018, he recorded as a sideman with French guitarist Felix Lemerle, Bertha Hope and Ari Roland on their own label « TzimTzum Records » and with the legendary drummer Jimmy Cobb (member of the Miles Davis quintet featuring on mythical album Kind of Blue) He recently recorded a solo and duo album “Barbarhythm” with alto saxophonist Jean Paul Adam on the Jazz Family label. Since 2023 Samuel Lerner has been living in NYC composing music for his trio and playing in several prominent NYC venues (Mezzrow Jazz Club, Ornithology Jazz Club) as a leader and sideman.
Aside his concerts and recording activity Samuel Lerner has been teaching for more than 15 years piano and music theory at the conservatory (where he graduated) in Paris and in music schools to young kids individually but also to groups and workshops. He has a huge experience in teaching to students of all levels and ages.

Active listening of recordings, Music History
My teaching is based on oral transmission: being able to learn a song and improvise on it without using a chart
