About Rachel
WHO AM I
I'm a full-time performing, recording and producing artist, with a background in classical music, and 15 yrs experience in the Canadian indie music scene, with tours & collabs in the US and UK. I release under the monikker rsun, and am releasing my first LP this fall.
I got my grade 9 RCM in classical piano and voice as a teenager, and spent my 20s teaching myself rock, pop, R&B, etc. I now play around a grade 10 RCM level. I produce and compose in Ableton live, and also play electric guitar.
MUSIC NERDERY
My favourite band is Radiohead, favourite composer is Mozart, and favourite modern composer is either Max Richter or Philip Glass.

I teach fluidly across piano, voice, composition, music theory, performance, career development, grant writing, and improvisation. I currently teach weekly-hobby-level students -- especially adult singers -- and also prep some for RCM exams and auditions. I also teach virtual music production and songwriting in Ableton Live, to students as young as 10. I'm very flexible and open to different areas of interest, and run monthly performance gatherings for students to share their progress here.
