About Bjarki
I am a composer and musician with 10+ years experience with an NZ National Music Award in Composition. I have composed music for various public performances and shows as well as arranging music for local bands.
I have developed over the years from the help of teachers and other musicians who have taught me various skills, tips and tricks in composition and performance - and hence, I am able to transfer these skills and knowledge into my lessons.
I have 4 years of piano teaching experience overall and work as teacher in Upper School so I am happy to help prepare students for exams as well as teach ABRSM theory.
My personal musical niche is in Indie and Alternative piano so am happy to dive into this genre with you!

I like to take an informal approach to my lessons all while giving you the resources and information to advance in the world of Music and Composition. Hence, I like to establish clear goals and aspirations right from the get-go.
I tailor all my lessons to the individual, so am happy to use a variety of different resources and methods - sight reading, transcription, theory and practical work. I often use my own teaching material and a few other books or resources. However, am happy to work through specific resources provided by yourself.
I enjoy working with students who are passionate and enthusiastic towards the music they create! I enjoy seeing the students thrive and improve and watch their successes - whether this is solely enjoying music or pursuing a career in music.
