About Annie

I started learning Mandarin Chinese at university at the age of 18, so I know the particular challenges facing an adult learner of the language. I lived in China for three years, teaching English and working as a translator. With more than ten years experience in teaching and translation, I can explain both grammatical and cultural elements of Chinese in a familiar and easy to grasp way, and guide you through some concepts that we don't have in English--like tones!

I taught Chinese at the University of Adelaide for a number of years, and am well-placed to help university level/adult students to excel in their classes by reinforcing your lessons, and teaching you extra content!

My Chinese language classes are personalised to match your learning goals, whether you’re a beginner or looking to improve conversational fluency. Lessons focus on practical language skills for real-life situations, including speaking, listening, reading and writing.

You’ll gain improved pronunciation, vocabulary expansion, and grammatical understanding, and my teaching adapts to your pace, ensuring steady progress.

Lessons are one-on-one and typically include review, new content, and guided practice tailored to your interests.
