About Caitlin
I have higher education teaching and research experience. I came to Linguistics from an unusual route and fell in love with the subject. I particularly want to support students who enjoy what they do but are struggling with aspects of their study, whether it's organisation, writing, catching up on a specific skill set, or just needing something explaining from a different angle.

I offer the following tutoring services at undergraduate and postgraduate level:
• Linguistics and English Language: specialising in phonetics, phonology, sociolinguistics, language variation and change
• Research methods
• Statistics for research
• Study skills and organisation
• Proofreading and academic writing support
I have over 7 years of experience teaching in higher education contexts in a Russell Group university including lectures, small group seminars and one-to-one support. I particularly like working with students who enjoy their subject and want to do well but need some extra support to reach their full potential.
I have experience with working with students with specific learning difficulties and have experience of that myself, though I am not specifically SEN trained.
Please note, due to conflict of interest I cannot tutor you in the 2025/26 academic if you are a current undergraduate in SELLL or ECLS at Newcastle University.

Lessons will typically be 60 or 90 minutes. If you want me to look at work beforehand, for example proofreading an essay, I will charge for a 90 minute session but meet with you for 30 minutes.
