Toby was a fantastic tutor for our daughter throughout her GCSE English preparation, and we would recommend him without hesitation.

English has never been the strongest subject in our family, and it was certainly the subject our daughter found most challenging. We knew she would benefit from some expert support, particularly with areas such as the poetry anthology and 'To Kill a Mockingbird', and Toby was exactly what we had hoped to find.

Perhaps the best testament to him is that, despite English being her least favourite subject, she was always ready and willing to sit down for her hour online with Toby. He managed to make the sessions both productive and enjoyable, and we could see her confidence grow as the course progressed.

Her eventual GCSE results exceeded our expectations: she came within just 3 marks of a grade 9 in English Language and achieved a 7 in English Literature. For someone who had always found English one of her more challenging subjects, this was a fantastic outcome and reflected just how far she had come.

From a parent's perspective, Toby was always professional, knowledgeable, positive and enthusiastic. We felt completely confident that our daughter was in very capable hands, and we are enormously grateful for the support and encouragement he gave her.

Toby tutored my son for his GCSE Literature and Language exams for the 2026 sitting. Despite having no interest at all in either subject - Toby’s knowledge and extremely affable character had my son engaged and learning from Day 1. They covered Macbeth/Inspector Calls/ Jekyll and War poetry in full, all aspects of the language curriculum and exam techniques to gain marks for each paper. I would highly recommend his tutoring services for anyone.
