About Zoe
I am a violinist and teacher currently pursuing a Doctorate in Violin Performance at the University of Montreal, where I previously completed my Master’s degree in violin performance. My training includes a Diplôme d’Études Musicales (DEM) from the Conservatoire à Rayonnement Régional de Boulogne-Billancourt in France. As a performer, I have experience in both orchestral and chamber music, with chamber music being a particularly meaningful part of my musical life. Alongside performing, I have been teaching violin and enjoy working with students at different stages of their musical development, helping them build a strong foundation while developing their own musical voice. I offer lessons in English, French, and Mandarin.

My approach to teaching is to adapt lessons to each student’s needs, goals, and level, while creating a positive and enjoyable learning environment. With beginners, I take time to establish a strong technical foundation, while introducing note reading and basic music theory in a way that keeps learning the violin fun and encouraging. For more experienced students, lessons usually combine technical work with applying these skills to pieces we work on together. I believe that technique should never be developed for its own sake, but should always go hand in hand with serving the music and helping students express themselves more freely. My goal is always to help students develop solid skills, confidence, and a genuine enjoyment of making music.
