My lessons are simplified and tailored to your particular learning style. I love showing students how Chemistry can relate to everyday life because I truly believe students learn best when they are involved in the lesson and see the reasoning/purpose. There are no silly questions in my class!!! After each lesson I provide students with additional material to review on their own, I email any work we did together and provide links related to the lesson. I tutor all levels of high school chemistry, intro to chemistry college courses, Gen Chem 1/Gen Chem 2/Ochem 1/Ochem 2/Analytical Chemistry. Send me a message and let's get started!

  • 1) When and why did you develop an interest in your chosen field?

My love for Chemistry began in the high school lab. One afternoon, during a qualitative analysis practical, I wondered what would happen if I mixed ammonia with hydrogen sulfide. The answer was a stench that spread across the entire campus and caused quite a commotion! It was chaotic at the time and funny in hindsight, and it left me curious about Chemistry as a whole. That curiosity eventually earned me the role of Chemistry lab assistant.

Teaching followed naturally. As soon as I graduated from high school, I started tutoring young children in my neighbourhood, and at university my junior classmates regularly asked me to tutor them in Chemistry. I have been teaching ever since.
  • 2) What makes you passionate about your subject?

Chemistry has always been my favourite subject. What I enjoy most is the calculation side, where critical thinking meets mathematical technique. Chemical equilibria, reaction rates and thermodynamics are among the topics I most look forward to teaching. I also have a keen interest in organic chemistry because of its links to the life sciences, an area I aim to keep exploring.

I teach Chemistry from high school to university level, and I also teach Biology and general science. Sharing the sciences with others is deeply rewarding for me.
  • 3) What do you like about tutoring? What makes you a "Superprof"?

What I like most about tutoring is watching a student grasp an idea that seemed too difficult at first. That moment never gets old.

What makes me a Superprof is my ability to simplify complex concepts, together with the patience my students often mention. The results reflect it: more than 70% of my students have achieved A grades. If Chemistry feels like a barrier right now, I would love the chance to help you break through it.
  • 4) Do you have any role models; a teacher that inspired you? Please explain.

Yes: my high school Chemistry teacher, Mrs. Shotayo. She was meticulous, and she found inventive ways to make laboratory sessions enjoyable and engaging. She was also approachable and always willing to answer my questions, however trivial they seemed. That gave me the confidence to keep asking and keep experimenting, and it is what led me to become the Chemistry lab assistant. She is the model for the tutor I try to be: thorough, creative and never too busy for a question.
  • 5) What are your keys to success?

First, understand the learner before teaching. I find out how each student learns best, how they process information and which teaching styles suit them, then I build my lessons around that.

Second, patience, active listening and empathy. Students make real progress when they feel free to ask anything.

Third, keep Chemistry practical, even online. Showing real-time observations from reactions through a screen was a challenge at first, so I now use tools such as ChemCollective virtual labs, Interactive Chemistry and Royal Society of Chemistry resources to bring lab work into my online lessons.
