About Maham

My Quran lessons are personalised, structured, and designed to build both knowledge and confidence. I begin every relationship by understanding the student’s current level and goals whether that is starting from the beginning with Qaida, improving reading fluency, learning correct Tajweed, memorising short surahs, or building deeper understanding of the meanings.
My teaching includes:

Beginners: Qaida (Arabic letters, harakat, and pronunciation) with clear, gentle progression
Reading practice: fluent Quran recitation with correct pronunciation
Tajweed: proper application of the rules of recitation
Memorisation (Hifz): support for children and adults memorising short surahs or working toward larger goals
Understanding: introduction to the meanings and lessons of selected surahs where students wish to learn more

I create a calm, respectful, and encouraging environment for every student. For younger children I use interactive methods, small achievable targets, and lots of positive reinforcement. For adults returning to Quran learning, I offer a judgement-free space where students can rebuild confidence at their own pace. For students with SEND, I adapt the approach fully to their communication needs and sensory profile.

Typical lesson length: 30 to 45 minutes for children, 45 to 60 minutes for adults.

Lessons are available online or in person. Package rates are available for regular weekly commitments.

My qualifications and experience:

• Experienced Quran teacher for children and adults
• MSc in Cognitive and Clinical Neuroscience — Anglia Ruskin University
• BS (Hons) in Applied Psychology
• Current SEN Specialist Outreach Tutor
• Enhanced DBS and Level 3 Safeguarding certified

Who my lessons are for: Children from age 4 upwards, teenagers, and adults of all ages and levels. Complete beginners are very welcome. I also welcome revert Muslims, students with SEND, and anyone returning to Quran learning after a break.

About the lesson

Assalamu Alaikum. I am a dedicated Quran tutor with a true love for the Quran and a deep commitment to helping students of all ages learn to read, understand, and connect with it. My teaching approach is calm, patient, and structured. I understand that every learner is different, and I adapt my lessons to match each student’s pace, confidence, and background.

I have experience teaching Quran to children, and I combine this with a strong professional background in education and psychology. I hold an MSc in Cognitive and Clinical Neuroscience and a BS in Applied Psychology, which gives me a unique understanding of how learners of different ages absorb and retain new material. I also work as a SEN Specialist Tutor, which means I am experienced in supporting children with additional learning needs including autism, ADHD, and speech and language differences with warmth and respect.

I hold an Enhanced DBS check and Level 3 Safeguarding certification, so parents can feel confident that their child is in safe, professional hands. I take pride in being punctual, reliable, and warm in every lesson.

My aim is to help every student develop a lifelong connection with the Quran through learning that is joyful, encouraging, and rooted in genuine understanding.
