About Tessa

I’m a vocal tutor with over 5 years of experience and a Bachelor of Arts in Ethnomusicology (Vocal Traditions), and my passion is helping singers discover the incredible possibilities of harmony. I specialize in vocal arrangement and love building layered harmonies that create warm, lush vocal textures.

From A Cappella ensembles to Pop, Gospel, and R&B styles, I teach students how to blend voices, craft counter-melodies, and arrange harmonies that truly elevate a song. My lessons explore both musical creativity and practical skills.

Students learn how to shape group harmonies, experiment with improvisation, and develop original vocal arrangements. I also integrate music technology so singers can understand how harmonies translate into studio recordings.

My background in music history and ethnomusicology allows me to connect vocal traditions from around the world with modern vocal styles. This gives students both inspiration and context for their musical growth.

About the lesson

My teaching method focuses on strong technique and long-term vocal health. I want every singer to develop skills that allow their voice to stay healthy and reliable for years.

Lessons begin with building solid fundamentals such as breath support, pitch control, tone shaping, and vocal balance. We also explore harmony singing, vocal layering, and arranging techniques.

I work with many singers who perform regularly in ensembles and community groups. Because of this, I emphasize vocal stamina and endurance so the voice can handle rehearsals, services, concerts, and tours.

Students learn practical ways to prevent vocal fatigue. This includes efficient technique, smart practice habits, and understanding the limits of the voice.

We also study proper warm-up routines before singing and recovery techniques after performing. These habits protect the voice and keep it flexible.

Another focus is ensemble awareness. Singers learn how to blend, balance, and support the overall sound without forcing their voice.

We also talk about hydration, vocal rest, and lifestyle choices that affect the voice. Small habits make a big difference over time.

My goal is simple: help singers grow while protecting their voice for the future.
