About Doreen

I have logged thousands of hours tutoring privately with individuals of all learning levels, or small groups where the proficiency level of each member is generally even. With school students I generally use their current curriculum to strengthen knowledge of the lessons and complete homework and project assignments. With travelers, I generally concentrate on teaching words, phrases, customs and places to make the journey easier and more fulfilling through better communication with the French people. With business clients, I teach everything from simple language and culture as a form of politeness, to actually participating in meetings and phone calls to assist with the Franco-American understanding process. With students/clients wishing to informally expand their French knowledge, it's with a wide array of conversation topics on literature, current events, art, etc. that I conduct the sessions. Along with learning, I strive to impart a real appreciation of the French language and culture, to make the entire tutoring experience very enjoyable. The results of our work together, among other things, are better grades and test scores, more exciting travels, more successful business encounters and better French conversations!

Assisting French individuals in learning English and assimilating to life in the US is another service I have successfully offered through the years.

Whether it is as a first time learner of the language or as an experienced learner wishing to strengthen already existing skills, there is a customized program I can put together specifically for you! As a graduate of Cornell University and the University of Paris, at the Sorbonne, coupled with daily use of French for business for more than a decade, I have a vast range of French knowledge and skill.
My students/clients range in age from high school to adults. My rate for students/clients who meet at my home or office is $45.00 per person per hour. If I travel to your home or office or to a cafe or other destination, my rate is $65.00 per person per hour.
