About Agata

My name is Agata and I originally come from Poland. I've graduated from English Studies where I focused on gaining my teacher experience and qualifications, I worked a year in a language school, after which I started and 3 years later graduated from Asian Studies where I focused on enhancing my Chinese translation skills and obtaining academic knowledge about South East Asia with focus on China (but also South Korea, Japan and other countries). I've been fascinated with the Chinese world ever since I've taken my first Chinese class at the age of 19 at University. Since then, I've spent countless hours learning everything there is about the Chinese language, but also about culture and differences between Western and Eastern mentalities. When I was 20 I went to China and stayed there for a year with a Chinese family who didn't speak any English, so very quickly I learned how to communicate in Chinese. I had finished a 500-hour Chinese 1 to 1 course there and after that not only was I studying the language online but also went again to China in 2019 to finish a 100-hour intensive summer course and in 2020 I graduated from Asian Studies back in Warsaw, Poland. I passed HSK 4 back in 2014 in Qingdao, China with over 90% score, I have also passed HSK 5 in Cracow, Poland in 2017, now preparing for HSK 6 hopefully in March next year :) (I was missing 10 points to pass it for the first time this summer!) I know how hard it is at first to communicate and understand the Chinese language and also feel lost and misunderstood when being in China or even talking with Chinese people with different mentality, world view and completely other language system from our Western one. I can help you understand it and feel a bit less lost and also teach you very practical, everyday language needed for survival ;) I can also prepare you for HSK 1-5 or help you prepare to pass GCSE from Chinese :) I believe that everyone can learn Chinese, with a little bit of determination, hard work and some passion for the language and discovering a completely different world :)

About the lesson

I have been teaching English and Chinese lessons for the last 10 years of my life. I've gained experience and knowledge first graduating from English Studies at University of Warsaw, majoring in teaching and English lit, after graduating from Asian Studies focusing on Chinese business and translation, writing a thesis about Social Credit System. I have lived one year in a Chinese family in Qingdao, Beijing and Shijiazhuang in China. I have created and published in 2022 a video course on Chinese basics on Udemy. I'm continuing to develop myself as a teacher and educator, working full time in one of the best secondary schools in England by day and spending my free time tutoring and enhancing my knowledge on how to teach with best efficiency and results. My Chinese lessons focus on everyday language and simple grammar, making it possible for you to be able to communicate with a native speaker within a few months of starting your language journey with me :) I provide my own educational materials as well as I share my knowledge about Chinese culture, language as well as differences between Asian and Western world useful for conflictless communication :) I can teach 1-to-1 as well as small groups, currently I live in Camden and work in North Kensington- I can commute to nearby locations for an additional 10£ fee, I mostly teach online in the very early mornings as well as evenings and weekends :)
