About Shixin
Hi! I'm Shixin, a native Mandarin speaker from Inner Mongolia, China, currently living in Barcelona, Spain. I'm passionate about languages, linguistics, and cultural exchange, and I love sharing my language and culture with people from around the world.
Having studied 11 languages () and traveled to 52 countries, I've experienced firsthand how learning a language can open doors to new perspectives, friendships, and cultures. I enjoy bringing this international perspective into my classes and helping students discover not only how Chinese works, but also the stories, traditions, and ways of thinking behind it.

My teaching approach is communicative, personalized, and adapted to each student's age, language background, interests, and goals. As a native Chinese speaker with experience teaching since 2018 in China, Mexico, and Morocco, I have taught students of different ages and levels, accumulating over 2,000 hours of teaching experience.
I believe language learning should be practical, engaging, and connected to real life. I use interactive activities, conversation, visual materials, stories, games, and repetition to help students understand and use Chinese naturally. For young children, I focus on learning through play, songs, stories, and everyday routines. For older students and adults, I combine speaking practice with vocabulary, grammar, pronunciation, and cultural insights.
Each lesson begins with a short review and conversation to reinforce previously learned material. We then introduce new language through a topic or activity suited to the student's interests. Students practice through guided exercises, interactive tasks, and real-life dialogues before finishing with a recap of key expressions and useful feedback.
For young children, lessons are built around playful themes and predictable routines that encourage listening and speaking. For advanced learners or students with specific goals, lessons can focus on fluency, exam preparation, or more nuanced aspects of Chinese language and culture.
As a multilingual language learner who has studied 11 languages and lived in 8 countries, I understand the challenges of learning and maintaining a language. My background in linguistics helps me identify how a student's existing languages influence their learning, allowing me to explain concepts in ways that make sense to them. I also integrate cultural knowledge and authentic expressions to help students sound more natural and communicate confidently.
I welcome learners of different ages and proficiency levels, from young children growing up outside China who want to maintain their Chinese, to complete beginners, heritage speakers, travelers, students preparing for exams, and adults seeking to improve their conversational skills. Every course is tailored to the learner's needs, whether the goal is maintaining fluency, building strong foundations, improving pronunciation, or exploring Chinese culture and society.
