About Lily
I am an enthusiastic linguist and like supporting students by bringing out the best in them and finding how to put it to work in their language and literature learning. I've been studying French & Spanish at Oxford and Cambridge for the past 5 years, and I'm a big fan of Rosalía and of Federico García Lorca!

I teach from absolute beginners with French and Spanish, all the way up to University applications and undergraduate support. Over 5 years I have seen many students through public examinations (11+, 13+, GCSE, A Level, CCEA, IB, Pre-U), Oxbridge applications (including MLAT) as well as individualised work with undergraduate students.
My language students and I begin our work on their language skills and by identifying their interests, as well as strengths and weaknesses, to develop a lasting and solid relationship to the language that will allow solid retention and passive learning outside of lessons. This means working through their syllabus but using exercises and content that are of interest to them, so that language becomes a tool for accessing further areas of interest and communication. We do this by reading together, conversing, doing language exercises and games, watching videos, listening to music, and so on.
With students working with me on literature, film, or other cultural studies, we build a course of study that allows them to consolidate the areas they are finding difficult and to expand their awareness and experience in directions that interest them, often with a view to university applications or academic work (e.g. essays, projects).
Lessons generally last one hour, but can range from 45 to 90 minutes depending on the student's learning style and needs.
