About Kate

I am a full time teacher of maths. I have taught adults, primary and high school students over the last two decades.

I love to help those who are struggling to find ways forward and make progress. No skill is too simple, no list of requirements is too long.

We will start at the beginning, back to as basic as you need, and keep you moving forward, at whatever pace you need.

I teach online and use videos, slides and screen annotations to show how things work (just like drawing on a whiteboard in class). Notes are available after the lesson in PDF format.

About the lesson

Recommended Max Lesson Length:
1 hour lessons for up to age 14.
1.5 hours lessons for age 15+.

Lessons will start with a brief chat about background and how students feel about the topic, or how much knowledge they've already picked up.

I demonstrate workings with explanations by writing on the screen with a digital pen and using a digital calculator. Copies of these notes will be available to students after the lesson. We will then work through some sample problems together and students will have chance to attempt some work independently, with feedback available.

It would be helpful if students have a stylus that can write on the screen, but this is NOT required. Pen and paper and their own calculator will be required.

I am happy to deviate from the lesson plan if students bring along topics that they are struggling with at school, or homework that they need some support to understand and attempt. If students can scan/photograph these and email them to me in advance, we can incorporate them into the lesson.

In preparation for exams, we will work through past papers and samples answers together. Again, copies of the notes are available after the lesson

Lessons are taught via Zoom/GMeet. I use screen annotation technology to demonstrate techniques, notes are available in PDF format after class.

Kate is a brilliant English Cambridge Tutor. She knows the Cambridge curriculum very well and so really help your child get maximum results. She has a lovely, gentle and patient teaching style and was able to get my son to open up, be curious and explore things he hadn't considered in the texts he was studying. As a result of her teaching him for less than 4 months, my son felt confident in his Shakespearean exam essay as well as with Poetry and he performed very well in his Year 10 exams. We will definitely continue to get help this year as he moves on to IGCSE exams. I have also recommended Kate to other parents and the feedback from them too is overwhelmingly positive.
