About Deborah
I am a former professional opera singer and have recently moved to specialise in coaching English-speaking singers in French pronunciation, specifically dealing with French art songs, arias and roles. Singing in French presents difficulties for some singers and there are differences between spoken French and sung French. My approach is simple, informative and informal. All levels of language are catered for and I aim to make the learning process enjoyable as well as productive! I work directly on art song and opera texts and librettos, using a basic system that the student can refer to, in order to work out the pronunciation for themselves, without having to learn the whole language!
