I believe learning can be fun. My methodology is to create an environment of curiosity, inspiration (wonder) and memorability with each lesson/session as much as possible.
I also believe kids find it easier to remember what they're taught if they find the teacher relatable. In other words he/she should be able to "speak their language" and keep abreast with the things their age group is interested in; should make use words and ideas they can understand; and employ the use of practical (everyday) examples as much as possible. Maintaining authority and showing a willingness to correct bad or distracting behavior is also important.
My lesson structure (not sure how to put this, to be honest) is typically something like the following:
•funny/interesting opener
•introduction of subject or subject matter
•explanation of concepts (tutorial proper) and solving of problems (if any)
•invitation for questions and giving of answers
•providing "classwork" or problems for the students to solve
•corrections, if any
•homework
