About Emilie
In 2017, I decided to start a bachelor degree in Nordic Studies, (with specialization in Norwegian). Thanks to my knowledge in Norwegian culture and my language level, I got to start directly in the second year of the bachelor. I completed my last year in Bergen and have been living here since 2018.
For the past two years, I have worked with various companies, using work language in both English and Norwegian.

In early 2020, I started teaching French to a group of Norwegians and Americans.
I use traditional manuals (Méthode Boscher) to teach basic sounds, writing and vocabulary. I focus on repetition and do my best to make sure my students are comfortable using the language orally. Each course also contains a basic grammar section, simplified enough to be understood by everyone. I like to follow the students' level and adapt my teaching to what they want to learn about the language.
My favorite tool for both increasing and testing vocabulary is Quizlet (I actually introduced it to the Norwegian courses I took).
Furthermore, I am organized and structured, which allows my students to improve their knowledge smoothly and without great difficulties.
Positive reinforcement and patience are very important to me because I think self-confidence is the key to using a language.
Finally, and more generally, I think I can give a good insight into my culture and its history. I have a degree in film editing, a master's degree in film preservation and promotion (or curating), as well as two bachelor degrees (in Film and Nordic studies respectively).
In addition, I have organized several language cafes, in Paris, Stockholm and Bergen.
